Welcome! I'm the photographer behind Chasing the Sun Photography.

 

I've always appreciated craftsmanship and attention to detail, and those qualities have shaped both my woodworking and my photography. My photographic journey began in the 1980s when I learned traditional film photography in high school, developing prints by hand in the darkroom and mastering the use of enlargers. My early work earned recognition from my photography teacher, including a high school award that hinted at a creative path I would eventually return to.

After stepping away from photography for several decades, I rediscovered it with a renewed passion. Today I embrace digital techniques while still drawing on the foundations I learned in the darkroom. My work focuses primarily on wildlife and the natural world, capturing fleeting moments of light, texture, and movement. While I often photograph in color, I also enjoy creating black-and-white images that emphasize contrast, form, and mood.

I've had the opportunity to exhibit my work in several local group shows, including fotofoto, The Firefly Artists, and Hive Market. My first solo exhibition was an important milestone and reflected both my artistic growth and my dedication to photography.

When I'm not behind the camera, I'm usually in my woodworking shop designing and building custom fine furniture. I'm also an avid rock climber and hiker, and I've been fortunate to climb and hike in destinations around the world. Those experiences continue to deepen my appreciation for nature and inspire many of the photographs I create.
